Flight
Jonathan Dove’s life-affirming comedy flies north for its Scottish premiere. This unanimously acclaimed production is reimagined by director Stephen Barlow and the 2015 creative team with all the feel-good flair that garnered them rave reviews. Inspired by the story of a refugee who was stranded for years in Paris Charles de Gaulle, Flight tells the tale of a group of total strangers stuck in an airport during an electrical storm. Thrown together, their lives and relationships soon start to unravel but then some surprising alliances are formed, and some unexpected discoveries made…
Dove’s vividly inventive score channels a wide range of influences into his own distinctive style – from the fast-paced brilliance of Rossini to Mozart, Ravel and Bernstein. The superb ensemble cast includes Jennifer France (Ariodante 2016), Victoria Simmonds and James Laing, all reprising their highly-praised roles from the Opera Holland Park production, Stephanie Corley (Inés de Castro 2015), Graeme Broadbent and Marie McLaughlin (The Marriage of Figaro 2016).
Music Director Stuart Stratford conducts.
