Featured Work

Hound of the Baskervilles

Role/Title: Set and costume designer
Year of Production Opening: 2018
Venue: The Barn Theatre, Cirencester
This version of the Hound of the Baskervilles is a comedy, where three actors chaotically re-enact the mystery, punctuated with problematic scenery and mistimed costume quick changes. Because of the nature of the play, it was important the characters were practically caricatures of themselves; we wanted each costume change to be instantly recognisable to the audience.

. Both the costume and set design were inspired by the original illustrations in Conan-Doyle’s novels. The projection design was inspired by magic lanterns, and flicked between etchings of the moorland landscape and Victorian London in the style of a Zoetrope. We also looked to early films of Laurel and Hardy for inspiration for our Holmes and Watson.
